September 2006
I can’t believe we’ve actually got this up and running. When you work on any project as complex as this one ended up becoming, you sometimes wonder if you’ll ever get it done. But now it is, I can no doubt sit back for a day or two before starting on the second phase of the site which will bring in London Road, Sidley and other areas.
Obviously there are a lot of people without whom this would probably not have happened, so a list of thank yous is probably in order. In that spirit I would like to thank:
- My wife, Lisa, and son, Ryan, for putting up with the long hours I spent on this project
- Danielle, who visited over 200 shops and businesses raising awareness of and support for the project; I have been overwhelmed by the positive comments I have received about her
- Sue (Garden Cafe) and Carly (Ye Olde Chocolate Shoppe) for supporting the project from the start and allowing themselves to be used as guinea pigs for the trial site
- All the shops and businesses who enthusiastically supported the site and joined us
- All those people in the shops who tried, albeit unsuccesfully, to convince their bosses that they should take part in the project
- And a special thank you to all the people who supplied their text to me in plenty of time for me to get their page put together; I owe you whatever sanity I have left.
I would also like to thank all the people who offered ideas and opinions, whether I agreed with them or not. As anyone who saw the trial site will probably notice, the range of options and features has expanded greatly and a lot of the new features have stemmed from the discussions I have had with various people in recent weeks. Then again, some of the new features have come about by me being awake at 2am having had too much coffee whilst working at midnight.
Ultimately, the main point of this site is to help show you the fantastic range of shops and businesses in Bexhill that you might not otherwise have been aware of. In this respect, it’s important that you let me know what you think of the site, be it good or bad. If you have a comment to make, please click on the Contact button on the left to see how to get in touch (email is preferable).
Oh, and one final thank you I need to make... Thank you to YOU for using this site and making all the efforts of everyone involved worthwhile. We all appreciate it!
Until next time,
Danni Segal founder around-bexhill.co.uk
